Where did the time go? I can't believe July is already coming to an end! In the future I am planning having everyone choose from a few choices, but being that we are so late into the month, I am just gonna make the executive decision. So without futher ado, Kingkhu's Book Club's selection for the month of August is........"The Familiar" by Leigh Bardugo! I am finishing up reading "The City We Became" by NK Jemisin right now, and I wanted to choose a book that appeared that it would be a bit less abstract in its concepts, and also a little further away from my personal, and the world's current realities. With that said, I don't expect this book to be toothless, and I fully expect there to be more than enough depth to it to analyze and attach to, just a couple hundred miles and centuries away from my own problems. Hopefully.
My first and only experience with Leigh Bardugo's writing is when I read her Six of Crows duology last year, which I loved, so I'm excited to read this book and see what her adult fiction is like. I try not to look too deeply into the books I read because I like to retain some of the magic of mysery, as well as avoid constructing too many expectations that might ruin my reading experience when they are not lived up to. That being, I have heard alot of high (though vague) praise of this book, from people whose book opinions I respect, so I am pretty excited to see what the noise is about! If you would like to read the book's synopsis, you can go here. Or you could just maintain the mystery if you would like.
